San Giacomo delle Segnate was once home to now extinct aristocratic families such as the Bonatti Earls, the Aldegatti Marquesses (who donated the land where the church was built) and the Arrigoni family (of which a magnificent villa survives). The predominant economic activity was, and still is, agricultural with small workshops.
